The Agricultural Entomology Master’s Program follows the policy for the admission of new students as stated in the University of Brawijaya’s Education Guidebook, which is published every year. The University of Brawijaya’s Education Guidebook is regulated by the University of Brawijaya Rector’s Regulation. The latest edition of the University of Brawijaya’s Education Guidebook is for the academic year 2022/2023, which is governed by the University of Brawijaya Rector’s Regulation No.64 of 2022 on the Implementation of Education at the University of Brawijaya for the academic year 2022/2023. The Agricultural Entomology Master’s Program follows the policy outlined in the Education Guidebook of the Faculty of Agriculture’s Postgraduate Program at the University of Brawijaya for the admission of new students. The admission of new students to the Agricultural Entomology Master’s Program is centralized and conducted through the University of Brawijaya’s Independent Selection (SELMA UB) in odd and/or even semesters. The selection process for new students is carried out by the Faculty of Agriculture’s Postgraduate Program at the University of Brawijaya through a written synopsis of research plans and an interview with the Program Study Head and the HPT Department Head. The selection process for foreign students (WNA) is announced on the website http://io.ub.ac.id. In addition to the University of Brawijaya’s centralized Independent Selection through SELMA UB, the Agricultural Entomology Master’s Program also accepts new students through a fast-track program, which is regulated by the University of Brawijaya Rector’s Regulation No.19 of 2020 on the Implementation of the Acceleration Program from Bachelor’s to Master’s Degree. The selection policy is consistently implemented every year during the admission process.
Selection Criteria The selection criteria or academic requirements for candidates of the Agricultural Entomology Master’s Program are as follows:
- Having a bachelor’s degree (S-1) diploma and transcript with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) ≥ 3.0 (on a scale of 0-4).
- Having a TPA certificate with a score of 475.
- Having an English proficiency score equivalent to TOEFL with a score of 500. Both certificates can be submitted at the time of registration or before the research seminar.
- Preparing a research thesis topic and attaching it during registration.
Candidates who meet the academic requirements stated in item (i) but have a bachelor’s degree from a program that is not related to the chosen master’s program in the Faculty of Agriculture’s Postgraduate Program at the University of Brawijaya can take more credits (determined by the Program Study Head).
The student selection system for the Fast-Track Program is for students who meet the following requirements:
- Active student status at the University of Brawijaya.
- Currently in the sixth semester and have passed at least 110 credits by the end of the fifth semester with a minimum GPA of 3.50 or a minimum GPA of 3.25 with the lowest grade of B (eligible status on SIAM).
- Other requirements follow the criteria according to the Education Guidebook of the Postgraduate Program.
Decision-making System The decision-making process for the admission of Master’s degree students in Agricultural Entomology is conducted through a coordination meeting between the Head of the Department of Plant Pests and Diseases, the Head of the Master’s Degree Program in Agricultural Entomology, and the Graduate Program of the Faculty of Agriculture. The meeting serves as a selection process for the administrative document requirements of new Master’s degree student candidates in Agricultural Entomology, including the evaluation of the sufficiency of their documents and the results of their written and interview tests. The aim of the coordination meeting is to decide whether to accept or reject the new students as Master’s degree students in Agricultural Entomology.
New Student Admission/Selection Procedures The admission procedure for new students in the Master’s degree program in Agricultural Entomology follows the university’s policy for admitting new students through the Independent Selection of Brawijaya University (SELMA UB) system. The recruitment process for new Graduate Program students is done through the website https://selma.ub.ac.id/ with the following mechanism:
- New student candidates must pay the application fee to obtain an account on https://admisi.ub.ac.id/.
- New student candidates who already have an account should then upload the requirements listed on https://selma.ub.ac.id/ to their account on https://admisi.ub.ac.id/.
- The requirements for new student candidates are as follows:
- Indonesian Citizen
- Meets the requirements of the intended study program as listed in the program table
- Has adequate health to not disrupt the learning process in their study program
